THREE May queens and their attendants were all crowned on the same day following the first Ram Roast Fair in Kingsteignton in three years.

Due to Covid-19, the event had to be cancelled but the latest event on May Bank Holiday made up for the disappointments of previous years.

The weather didn’t live up to expectations but the turnout was described as ‘outstanding’.

Performances from Higher Being circus troupe and the Tano Taiko drummers were well attended.

Mayor of Kingsteignton Cllr Ron Peart and his wife June crowned all the May Queens and attendants from the last three years.

The last queen was crowned in 2019 before the pandemic hit.

Spokesman Sue Shaw said: ‘Everyone enjoyed the day, the traders and the caterers.

‘The numbers of people that turned up were as usual outstanding despite the weather.’

Newton Abbot Ukulele band were also in attendance along with representatives of Torbay Hospital Radio who did the PA.

The 2020 Queen was Amelia Harrison and her attendants twins Isabelle and Jessica Norrish.

Queen for 2021 was Olivia Beringer and attendants were Ayla Douglas and Amelia Colley.

And Queen for 2022 was Orla Culley and for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is Roxie Andrews with attendants Elise Best and Matilda Taylor.

All the last queens enjoyed dressing up for the big day.

Sue said: ‘My house looked like a bridal boutique and they all looked beautiful.’
