POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 70s was seriously injured in a road accident in Newton Abbot.

The woman had sustained ‘significant’ injuries and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth for treatment following the crash.

The accident happened just after 3pm on Tuesday at the junction of Shaldon Road with Queensway.

It involved the woman casualty who was in collision with an MG TF car. The road was closed for five and a half hours while police investigated the collision and carried out enquiries at the scene.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team are appealing for any witnesses, particularly with any dashcam footage of the collision, to come forward.
