FIRE engines from Chagford, Bovey Tracey and Newton Abbot were this afternoon (Wednesday) sent to a shed on fire that had spread to a telephone exchange building next door.

At just after 3pm the crews arrived at Station Road, Moretonhampstead and confirmed that both the shed and telephone exchange were well alight.

A spokesperson for Fire Control said: ‘Crews have made a forced entry into the telephone exchange building and confirmed the smoke was confined to the roof space. 

‘Crews are extinguishing the fire using hose reel jets and breathing apparatus.’
