POLICE are investigating after a man in Dawlish needed hospital treatment after being assaulted.

The casualty was taken to hospital following the incident which happened on The Strand on Saturday night. 

The man sustained facial injuries in the assault which it was reported happened after the contents of a bottle were sprayed at a group of teenagers. 

When officers arrived on the scenes they found the man had been assaulted. 

Police say an individual was said to have sprayed an unknown liquid from a bottle at several young people. 

The contents of the bottle were described as a kind of ‘beverage’. 

A police spokesman said: ‘Police were notified at around 9.50pm on Saturday 7 October following reports that a man had sprayed the contents of a bottle at several teenagers on The Strand in Dawlish.

‘On police attendance, it was discovered that the man had been assaulted by a group of teenagers who were in the area. 

‘The victim was taken to hospital for an injury to his face. Enquiries are currently ongoing.’
