A MAN had to be rescued from his bedroom after fire broke out in a home at Bovey Tracey in the early hours of this morning (Thursday).
Three fire engines – from Ashburton, Bovey Tracey and Newton Abbot – were sent to a report of a fire in a domestic property with one person still inside.
A Fire control spokesperson said: ‘On arrival crews confirmed there was a fire within a first floor bedroom involving bedding and they rescued one male adult.
‘Crews administered first aid until the Ambulance crew arrived and they then took the casualty to hospital with smoke inhalation.
The fire was extinguished using: Two breathing apparatus; one hose reel jet; one safety jet; one smoke clearance fan.
‘There was 10 per cent fire damage to the bedroom and the cause was accidental,’ added the spokesperson.
