FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze in Dawlish when a blanket caught light on a balcony.

The alarm was raised by a carer helping a resident at a flat in Barton Crescent on Sunday at lunchtime.

The incident involved the blanket which was found alight on the balcony.

One crew from Dawlish attended the scene just before 12.30pm.

The carer had used a dry powder extinguisher to put out the fire.

Firefighters checked over the premises to make sure the occupant was safe.
