POLICE have booked a number of drivers taking a forbidden left hand turn in Newton Abbot

They issued a warning to drivers on their Facebook page.

Newton Abbot Police Station’s page says: ‘If you travel along St Marychurch Road heading towards Newton Abbot you will of noticed this sign (see picture) at the junction of Aller Brake Road which means ‘no left turn’.

‘Local residents informed us about this issue therefore some officers spent a period of time there.

‘A number of road users chose to ignore this sign and ended up being issued a fine.’

Some people added comments below the story.

One said: ‘But why is it there, it’s a pointless turning!’

Another added: ‘I’m really glad I pay tax money well spent.’

While someone else said: ‘I think it’s great how “local residents” complained and it was acted on.’

The town’s Police Advocate, Cllr Mike Joyce, adds: ‘Great work, shows you are listening and backs up what Speedwatch have reported in the past.’
