CHAGFORD’S turkey producer Frenchbeer Farm has won a prestigious national award for their turkeys.
The Great British Food Awards were launched in 2014 to celebrate the country’s finest artisanal produce, as well as the hard-working people behind the scenes.
After getting to the finals last year, John Malseed and his family took the top spot this year for the best organic produce.
John said: ‘Mum and dad are first generation farmers since 1963, they started farming and had no money so did 50 turkeys. It was really popular so we did a few more and it’s grown from that.
‘A big thanks to all our pluckers, they’re all local and without them, we essentially couldn’t do our farm harvest – we’d be buggered.’
