The other big event just launched is the return of the Rotary Firewalk, this is in two months’ time at Buckland Football Club on Friday, April 14.
When this event was run in 2016, £15,000 was raised shared between 20 charities.
A fantastic and fun way to raise funds for a charity, sports club, individual or business wanting to collect funds by way of sponsorship. – it’s a great team building event!
Often small charities do not have the financial or physical resources to stage large events, this is where Rotary have stepped in to facilitate the event.
It will also be a community focused with Japanese Drummers from Tano Taiko, Face painting and charity stalls.
Can you take the heat?
Martin Smith says: ‘This is a professionally organised event by BLAZE who have supervised hundreds of Firewalking events.
‘A very unique way for people to raise funds for their chosen charities.
‘We have room for up to 100 people to take part and having completed a fire walk myself in the past I can promise, but don’t ask me how, it just doesn’t hurt.
‘What’s more, the experts looking after us have staged hundreds of similar sessions and never once have they had to call for medical assistance as no-one has ever needed it.
‘I can tell you though, it takes some nerve to look at that line of hot coals and then believe you can cross it, barefoot of course.
‘It’s a fantastic experience though and one which leaves you on a terrific high, a feeling that gets even better when you realise you’ve not only conquered a fear but generated some greatly needed cash for a cause that’s close to your heart.’
The Blaze team have appeared on television over 35 times , including Blue Peter, Question of Sport and GMTV.
You must be over 14 to enter (14-15 parental approval required) contact Rotary at [email protected] for your information pack.
It is £24 to become a walker and requested to generate £75 in sponsorship of which 100% will go direct to your cause.
