POLICE and ambulances sealed off part of Sherborne Road, Newton Abbot, yesterday morning, Wednesday, following reports of concern for the welfare of a man in his 80s.

There are reports that the Air Ambulance landed at the nearby recreation/ cricket playing fields.

A police spokesperson has said: ‘Emergency services are currently responding to a concern for welfare call on Sherbourne Road.

‘The incident remains ongoing at this time.’

By early afternoon the incident had been resolved.

A police spokesperson said: ‘Police were called by the ambulance service at 10.40am yesterday to Sherborne Road, Newton Abbot, following reports of concern for the welfare of a man in his 80s.

‘A woman was also reported to have sustained a minor injury.

‘The two people were taken to hospital.’
