A COMMUNITY event focusing on flood preparedness is taking place in Buckfastleigh this month.

The event at Buckfastleigh Town Hall, which takes place from 7pm on Wednesday, January 21, will feature a presentation by the Environment Agency.

The Environment Agency will cover historic, current and future flood risks affecting Buckfastleigh.

Representatives from the Government agency will also discuss how to best prepare for future flood risks, as well as community resilience and planning.

Refreshments will be available at the event.

Buckfastleigh has a history of bad flooding.

Flooding in 1979 hit 74 properties.

And then in 2012 there were two separate floods, with water rising to more than a metre in places.
