POPPIES have taken pride of place on Teignmouth seafront as the RNLI’s contribution to today’s 80th anniversary of VE Day.

The poppies formed part of an installation put together by Teignmouth RNLI volunteers created to mark Remembrance Day last November.

Each poppy was handmade and donated by the team of volunteers and supporters.

The project was overseen by Anne Steele Arnett, who said it was a ‘pleasure to do’ and how ‘wonderful it was to meet so many lovely passers by’ as she and her husband Brian put out the installation at dusk yesterday.

The poppies will remain in place until dusk this evening when a representative from Teignmouth Town Council will light the memorial beacon on the Seafront at 9.30pm.
