THE local proclamation in Teignbridge will formally announce the accession of His Majesty, King Charles III.

It will be held in the grounds of Old Forde House, Newton Abbot, at 10am tomorrow, Monday.

The chair of Teignbridge Council, Cllr Charles Nuttall, will read the proclamation. The Union Flag on the roof of the main building, Forde House, will also be raised for the duration of the proclamation and the event will coincide with all the district proclamations across Devon.

The district event follows the national proclamation which was held yesterday, Saturday, at St James’ Palace at 11am, and a county proclamation at Devon County Hall at 1pm today, Sunday.

Union Flags across Teignbridge were raised from Saturday until 1pm today, Sunday, to mark the accession of the new monarch.

The flags will then return to half mast, as Teignbridge joins the country in mourning Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Among those invited to the Teignbridge proclamation are all members of the council and senior council officers, Teignmouth Harbour Master, Rep of the RBL, HM Coroner, Royal Navy representative, the Devon and Somerset fire commander, local town and parish council chairs and mayors.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the proclamation - please arrive by 9.45am at the latest to ensure a prompt start.

This event will be taking place outside at the front of the building.

The dress code is dark clothing, black ties and / or similar appropriate attire.
