THREE teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of arson following a large fire at Paignton railway station.

British Transport Police (BTP) said the boys, aged 13, 15 and 16-years-old respectively, were arrested in the Paignton area on the evening of Tuesday, 21 July.

They were taken into police custody and questioned by detectives, before being released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.

The arrests came after a large emergency response to a fire that broke out at the station shortly before 6am on Tuesday.

Crews from Paignton, Torquay, Brixham, Newton Abbot, Totnes and Honiton fire stations were called to the scene, where they worked to bring the blaze under control.

No injuries were reported.

The fire caused extensive damage to the station building and led to disruption for rail services, with passengers warned that no trains were due to run to Paignton on Wednesday.

Detectives investigating the cause of the fire are continuing to appeal for information from anyone who may be able to assist.
