ACCLAIMED British folk and roots duo Honey and The Bear will be bringing their live show to a Devon venue this summer.

The Suffolk-based pair will be performing at Ashburton Arts Centre on June 11 as one of only two venues, the other is in Penzance , within the westcountry.

After a long series of very popular Livestream gigs during lockdown, the husband and wife team of Jon and Lucy Hart are very happy to be back on the road singing and playing to audiences in person once again.

‘We were so happy to keep going during the lockdown and develop a new community of listeners online, but playing live shows to an audience in the room again has been incredible, it seems that everyone has really missed this experience, said Jon.

‘We released their second album Journey Through The Roke last year and listeners will now get the chance to hear some of that material for the first time as we bring folklore of the past and present to life, from Suffolk and beyond,’ added Lucy.

The multi instrumentalist pair combine delicately interweaving vocal harmonies with emotive and evocative songwriting.

Conjuring stories in song, they tell tales of Suffolk folklore, courageous people they admire, their passion for nature and the odd heartbreak or two.

They have been performing together since early 2014, having met at a songwriting event two years previous. Since then, they have played at many revered venues and festivals across the UK as well as travelled across the channel for their first European tour.

They will be joined on stage in Ashburton by celebrated percussionist Evan Carson and in-demand multi instrumentalist Toby Shaer.

Tickets for the 7.30pm gig are available from http://ashburtonarts.org.uk
