THREE hundred runners turned out to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Teignmouth Parkrun.

Some runners wore fancy dress and were joined by about 600 spectators to mark the occasion.

Event director Paul Burgess said: ‘The Parkrun has been an amazing success, attracting around 40,000 runners over the last five years which would have been more but for Covid, and around 100,000 spectators.

‘It has been fantastically successful.

‘Our volunteers are amazing, turning out each week in all weathers, they are heroes and everyone taking part is truly inspirational.

‘We are actively encouraging everyone to join us no matter what your experience, it’s about getting out, getting regular exercise whether walking or running.’

Everyone is welcome, walking or running and dogs and children can join in.

Parkruns take place in Teignmouth every Saturday morning.
