SHEEP farmer Anthony Carter scored a string of successes at this year’s Devon County Show.

Anthony, who is the third generation of his family to run Millcroft Farm, near Dawlish, won three breed classes for his flock along with a host of other prizes.

He and wife Joanne have several breeds of pedigree sheep, of 60 ewes, on their 80 acre farm: Roussin, Rouge and Lleyn.

Anthony said: ‘It’s been a good run and I am very pleased.

‘We come every year and this is our sixth show this year.

‘This year has been particularly good so far.’

As well as the ewes, their Texel ram won a championship prize and their Lleyn, called Dolores, won reserve champion female.

The Roussin breed is very popular in the south west.

Anthony said the prize winners are down to the ‘good back end’ and breeding.

His prize winners made it through to the finals of the breed class, among the ‘high quality’ of sheep presented to the judges.

It’s not just sheep though, their farm is also home to pigs and chickens.

And their large black pig also won reserve champion at the show.
