A MAN who broke a restraining order by going to his mother’s home in Teignmouth has been given a last chance to stay out of jail.

Jordan Sidell was banned from going to the address in Colman Avenue but turned up there in the middle of the night and started shouting and kicking the front door.

Police were alerted by a neighbour and Sidell’s mother and a dog handler filmed him at the scene as he was arrested on the night of February 7 this year.

He has been remanded in custody ever since but was released by a Judge at Exeter Crown Court who deferred his sentence and said he was giving him a chance to prove he can stay out of trouble and work with probation.

Sidell has been on a suspended sentence since March 29 last year when he was in court for burgling a house in Teignmouth which he mistook for his mother’s former address in Fraser Drive.

He was already at risk of having it activated because he missed two probation meetings in December.

Sidell, aged 27, of Cockhaven Close, Bishopsteignton, admitted breach of a restraining order and a suspended sentence and his case was adjourned for six months by Judge Stephen Climie at Exeter Crown Court.

He told him: ‘If you miss another appointment or commit any other offence I guarantee you will be going inside for two years. It is not rocket science.’

Miss Lisa Denley, prosecuting, said police received 999 calls from an unknown male and Sidell’s mother at 2.10am on February 7 to say he was causing a disturbance and kicking her door.

He was arrested and a dog handler captured footage on his body worn camera of him at the house, which he was banned from visiting by a restraining order.

He had previously missed probation meetings on December 21 and 28 without having a valid excuse.

Mr William Parkhill, defending, said Sidell has spent four weeks in custody and now realises the seriousness of what he had done.
