A DEVON skincare company has launched a fundraising campaign to help it expand its range of organic skincare products.

Founded in 2020 by Kevin and Liz Troy, Coraline Skincare produces an award-winning range of waterless soaps and skincare products, handcrafted in small batches in its store in Topsham.

And now Kevin and Liz have set their sights on creating a reef-safe, fully organic and vegan mineral sunscreen and skin treatment candles, as well as sound-proofing and kitting-out their holistic treatment room.

Kevin and Liz are hopeful for treatments start in June, bookable on their website from late May.

As such, the couple have launched a Crowdfunder to raise the money necessary to turn these three projects into reality.

‘We were shocked to find that many 'natural' sunscreens are packed with hidden chemicals that can be terrible for the skin’ Kevin and Liz said on the Crowdfunder.

‘Surprisingly, we cannot find a sunscreen on the market that is vegan, reef-safe and totally organic, but which also feels really nice on the skin.

‘We see this as not only a huge gap in the market, but something crucial to help the health of the planet.

‘That’s why we're developing our own — and we’re nearly there.

‘We have come so close to perfecting the formula’ the couple added.

The inspiration to create a sunscreen, as everything else did, from their daughter, Coraline, who the business is named after.

Coraline was born with Down's syndrome and two holes in her heart.

Her sensitive skin reacted badly to many products which claimed to be 'natural'.

‘We tried everything out there and we couldn’t find what we were looking for, so we decided to create our own range of organic, natural and vegan skincare to help Coraline to have happy skin’ Kevin and Liz said.

And next up on the couple’s radar is creating a sunscreen.

‘We are feeling the excitement from our Coraline Skincare community about this and we’d love for you to be part of our next chapter’ the couple added.

Operations Manager, Keely Oake, who lives in Newton Abbot, said: ‘I have known Liz for 25 years and started working for them in 2023.

‘From birth, Coraline’s skin was so sensitive, she couldn’t use regular soap so Kevin decided to make his own for her.

‘He really is an innovator, but we need a cash injection to keep moving forward.’
