A NEW nursery is set to open at a Newton Abbot school.
All Saints Marsh C of E Academy will be expanding its early years provision with the addition of the nursery for children aged two and above.
The school, which has served its local community for more than 150 years, will base the new nursery within its existing building alongside the reception class. Work will take place over the summer holidays to prepare the space ahead of opening in September.
All Saints Marsh is one of seven Devon schools to benefit from the Department for Education’s Schools-Based Nursery Grant, which is supporting the expansion of early years provision in areas of high demand.
The expansion will provide much-needed additional childcare places for families in the local area, helping to meet growing demand.
Several children have already been signed up ahead of the nursery opening in September.
A key focus of the new provision will be continuity of care, enabling children to move smoothly from nursery into reception.
The school says the new nursery will also strengthen its role at the heart of the community, ensuring more families in Newton Abbot can access high-quality early years education.
This follows the school’s recent national recognition, having been awarded Certificate of Achievement status in the 2026 Pearson National Teaching Awards in the Making a Difference – Primary School of the Year category.
Liam O’Sullivan, headteacher, said: ‘We are delighted to be able to expand our early years provision with a nursery for children aged two and over.
‘This is about meeting the needs of our community and giving children the very best start.
‘Having provision on site also means greater continuity of care as children move through the school, helping them settle, thrive and grow in a familiar environment.
‘We can’t wait to welcome children into our new nursery and look forward to seeing them learn, grow and settle into school life.’
