ROWCROFT Hospice is celebrating its nurses and care teams in recognition of International Nurses Day.

Every day at Rowcroft, the charity’s nurses and wider care teams are alongside people during some of life’s toughest moments – offering specialist care and support when it’s needed most.

International Nurses Day is a chance to recognise and thank not just its nurses but all its clinical staff everywhere, and to reflect on the incredible contribution of all its nurses and care teams at Rowcroft Hospice.

It’s their dedication, expertise and hard work that make truly compassionate care possible.

Holly Hayman, Rowcroft’s Hospice at Home nurse, reflects on the difference this care makes to families in South Devon.

‘For some families, they can feel so alone when their loved one is nearing the end of life’, Holly said.

‘For them to have our support, and to be able to receive the care that they so desperately need, is just fantastic’, Holly added.

Her words highlight something we see every day – care that is deeply human, personalised, and delivered by specialist teams working together with kindness and compassion.

‘Working for Rowcroft has always been where my heart is at’, said Holly.

‘Caring for patients and their families at their most vulnerable time, and to be there in their final journey, is something I truly couldn’t imagine not doing’, Holly added.

As a charity, Rowcroft relies on the support of the local community to keep this care going.

Like many hospices, Rowcroft is facing increasing financial pressures, and with only 24 per cent of its funding coming from the government, community support is vital.

As Holly explains: ‘The support of the community, and having people who sponsor us, is so very much needed.

‘Their amazing support shows how our community comes together so that we can continue to provide the most effective care for patients who are at the end of life’.

One way for people to help is through Rowcroft’s Sponsor a Nurse scheme.

A regular monthly donation will ensure Rowcroft’s teams can continue providing expert care.
