AS THE summer season looms large, Teignmouth RNLI are on the lookout for new volunteers to join their fundraising team.

Teignmouth RNLI have put out a call for additional volunteers to help them with this summer’s line up of events to help raise funds for the charity.

Prospective volunteers could fill a number of roles: bucket collectors, stall holders, shop assistants, catering assistants, tea and coffee helpers, drivers and much more.

Last year the team at RNLI Teignmouth raised more than £80,000 through the efforts of their volunteers

This year they hope to exceed this target but to do so they need help. The organisation needs additional volunteers to fill the gaps in their team and are looking for people to help with bucket collections, charity stalls, boat house open days and much more.

Teignmouth RNLI also have a ‘Boat House Open Day’ coinciding with Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

The open day will be an opportunity for prospective volunteers as well as memebrs of the public to have a stroll around the boat house and a close up look at Teignmouth’s RNLI Lifeboat - The Two Annes.

Teignmouth RNLI Fundraising Team Chairman Adrian Knowles said: ‘To enable the RNLI to be part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Teignmouth we have decided to move the Open Day to the weekend of June 4 and 5.

‘There will be various stalls throughout the weekend, as well as a lifeboat demonstration between 10.30am and 11.30am on Saturday, local shanty performers The Back Beach Boyz will be singing at the boathouse between 3pm and 5pm on Saturday afternoon, then on Sunday Newton Bushel Morris will be performing between 1pm and 2pm.

‘Come and look around the Teignmouth station and boat and help us celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.’

The team are looking for enthusiastic people to join their team, there are a range of days/times and positions available to suit many skills and they encourage anyone interested or looking to find out more to reach out and contact Wendy on 0785 06577
