A NEW air source heat pump could be installed at Bovey Tracey’s community centre as part of plans to replace the building’s existing gas boiler and reduce its carbon footprint.

The proposed unit would be installed at the rear of the Riverside Community Centre and provide heating and hot water, helping to reduce the centre’s carbon footprint.

The centre, completed in 2020, is home to the town’s library, public toilets, local information centre and council offices.

The building is within the Bovey Tracey Conservation Area, but planning documents state the heat pump will be hidden from view from both the road and neighbouring properties.

Teignbridge Council is due to make a decision on 26/01291/FUL by October 16.
