Rotary in Devon and Cornwall has donated some £55,000 to the Ukraine appeal - thanks to the tremendous generosity of the public in the South West.

‘This is a magnificent effort by Rotarians organising a series of collections and, locally, we have been delighted to support this effort by collecting several thousand pounds. The appalling situation in Ukraine has touched everyone’s hearts,’ says Dawlish Water Rotary President Anne Harrison, pictured.

Rotary Great Britain & Ireland are directly working with Rotary Clubs in the countries bordering the Ukraine who have already provided considerable support to the refugees and further funds are on the way. Other forms of support are also being considered by the District.

In addition, many Rotarians have directly supported other charities such as the Red Cross and the DEC Ukraine Appeal.

Meanwhile closer to home, the Dawlish Water Rotary Club continues to make regular donations to the Teignbridge Food Bank, as higher energy bills, fuel and shopping prices increase the numbers of people needing basic help.

‘With so much going on in the world, we have not lost sight of the importance of this help for desperate families,’ added Anne.
