TEIGNMOUTH Labour Party activist Lillian Chasteau has just returned from the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool.
The 28-year-old, who is manager of the Oystercatcher Restaurant in Teignmouth, says the Liverpool national conference was very positive and that there was a ‘general feeling’ that the party could win the next general election.
Lillian, who sits on the national coordination group for momentum and is policy officer for the Newton Abbot constituency Labour Party and chairman of the Teignmouth branch, said she become involved in politics four years ago.
She said: ‘Essentially I wanted to do something and getting involved with the party seemed to be the most appropriate way of going about it.’
Lillian has stood for several local seats in the last few years and says the poll results have improved in both county and district elections.
She said: ‘The party is quite unified and things are slowly improving.
‘The general trend is better than we expected.
‘We may not be a massive contender but we have long term plan.’
At the conference, she was part of a committee looking into electoral reform.
Lillian, who is Teignbridge born and bred, hopes to stand to election soon.
