POLICE in Teignmouth have caught a man selling fake Apple products in the town centre.

After a tip off from a member of the public, two PSCOs found the ‘suspicious’ man selling fake tech in Bank Street.

He ran off towards the railway station where three men were detained by PC Gary Miller with support from response officers.

Following a search, officers found a large quantity of counterfeit Apple products including iPhones, watches and Airpods.

Anyone who may have bought cheap Apple products in Teignmouth that were sold a genuine is asked to report to police by calling 101 or online at at https://orlo.uk/xYIzp and quote ref 50260186826.

A spokesman for Teignmouth and Dawlish police said: ‘We will be keeping an eye out for the males if they visit Devon and Cornwall again.’

There have also been reports of rogue traders operating in the area over the last few months.

Investigations are underway by the police with Action Fraud and Trading Standards after an elderly man was defrauded for roofing work which was not completed.

The spokesman added: ‘We have also seen several reports of rogue traders over the past couple of months and would urge caution when approached by cold callers for building works, gardening or cleaning; and to keep an eye on vulnerable neighbours.’
