POLICE are reminding residents to remain vigilant and keep their homes secure as warm weather continues across the region.
With many people opening windows and doors more frequently during the warmer days, Devon & Cornwall Police is urging householders to be aware of potential risks and avoid leaving valuables within easy reach.
Residents are advised not to leave expensive or personal items near open windows or doors, including vehicle and house keys, money, mobile phones, technology and sentimental belongings.
The force has also reminded people to make sure windows and doors are locked when not in use and never leave their property unsecured when they are away.
A spokesperson said: ‘It is important to ensure your home and property are still safe and secure during these times.
‘Please be vigilant and aware of who is around and what could be easily taken from an open window’.
Anyone who sees suspicious behaviour or people is encouraged to report emergencies by calling 999, while non-emergency concerns can be reported via 101 or through the Devon & Cornwall Police website.
