CROWDS turned out to mark Armed Forces day in Dawlish last Saturday. 

The Royal British Legion Dawlish branch and Dawlish Town Council organised the annual event and the parade through the town from the Manor House to the Lawn. 

Led by the South West Comms Band, the event was attended by the Deputy Lieutenant of Devon, Commodore Jake Moores OBE.

Also in attendance was the RBL county chairman Yasmin Gibbins who led the parade and Lieutenant Commander Tom Elliott, retired, who took the role of parade marshal. 

Local dignitaries including the Mayor Cllr Rosie Dawson, town and district councillors also took part in the parade through the town. 

Service veterans and cadets also marched in the parade.

Events took place during the day on the Lawn featuring stalls displays by re-enactment groups  and military vehicles. Dawlish RBL chairman Bob Graham said: ‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank my committee for all their hard work and dedication over many months to ensure that the day went well.

‘We rounded off the day with a fantastic night in the RBL club with entertainment from The Liberty Sisters and good food organised by the club committee.’
