A HOUSING estate on the edge of Buckfastleigh could be expanded as an application for close to 30 homes is submitted planners.
Submitted by Buckfast Estates Ltd, 0615/18 is for 28 new homes, of which six will be flats, and the remainder being a mixture of terraced, semidetached, and detached houses, on land west of Barn Park.
Ten will be ‘affordable’ dwellings and 18 open market, the planning statement says.
The site, which is within the Buckfastleigh development boundary, is located on the west side of the town, adjacent to an existing development; to the north is Merrifield Road and to the west is an agricultural field.
The proposal includes provision for 50 parking spaces, landscaping, open space and a wildlife corridor.
According to the planning statement, the development would ‘make a very important contribution towards boosting the supply of housing’.
‘The delivery of these homes will assist in the vitality of the local community being maintained and enhanced’, the statement adds.
