THE number of convicted child sex offenders currently being monitored by Devon & Cornwall Police has been revealed by a Freedom of Information (FOI) request.

As of June 27, the force is monitoring 2,132 registered sex offenders with convictions involving a child victim, the FOI requests shows.

In total, Devon & Cornwall Police, as of March 31, was managing 2927 registered sex offenders, including community and custody cases, another FOI request shows.

There is no process in the UK to find out if a sex offender lives in your area.

The Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme lets you formally ask the police whether someone who has contact with a child or children has a record for child sexual offences.

It's not a law, but it is sometimes called 'Sarah's Law'.
