A NEW bereavement support group is set to launch in Newton Abbot.

Launching on June 18, the sessions will take place from 10.30am to 12pm at the Courtenay Centre every first and third Thursday of the month.

Dorothy Martin is the driving force behind the new group.

Dorothy, who lost her husband a few years ago, had been attending a support group in Teignmouth.

‘I found it extremely helpful for me’, Dorothy said.

And it prompted her to explore the possibility of setting up a group in Newton Abbot, which is exactly what she has done.

‘It is for people who lost a loved one, we can meet up and do some work, it is a bit structured, but it is also social - it is about helping people move through the grief’, Dorothy said.

‘Now that I am moving forward, I would love to help others who are stuck in that place - it is the most horrible place I have ever been in, so I just thought it would be a lovely thing to give back’, Dorothy added.
