DEVON and Cornwall Police recorded more than 100 offences involving corrosive substances in the past five years, a Freedom of Information (FOI) request has revealed.
Between 2019 and 2024 there were 109 offences in the Devon & Cornwall police area, the FOI request shows.
The 2024 financial year saw the most at 33, with 2020 the fewest at seven.

Worryingly, acid attacks increased by 75 per cent in one year, increasing from 710 offences in 2022 to 1,244 in 2023.
And more worryingly, only eight per cent of offenders involved in these crimes faced prosecution.
