A PIECE of farm machinery that caught fire last week saw several fire crews team up to tackle the incident.

Firefighters from Chagford were mobilised on Tuesday, March 19, to a report of a straw chopper, a specialised piece of machinery designed to take straw bales, chop them and spread the straw, that had caught fire.

The crew from Chagford were joined by their colleagues from Okehampton Fire Station and Danes Castle Fire Station.

‘While the pump was committed at this incident, our co-responder was required by the South West Ambulance Service to assist with a medical call’ a spokesperson for Chagford Fire Station said.
