THE lovely ladies of Newton Abbot WI recently judged the maypoles at local festival.

‘It was absolutely wonderful for Liz and I to judge the decorated Maypoles at the Kingsteignton Ram Roast’ Karen Jenks, Newton Abbot WI’s press officer, said.

‘We had 20 entries, which then had to be taken down to six, and then the final three

‘Not an easy task I have to say, though all the entries were wonderful’ Karen added.

The winner was the Bee Hive, pictured centre.

The Bee hive was the creation of St Michael’s pupil Grace.

‘We decided that it had a strong connection to the 'Pocket Meadow' launch that the WI is doing very soon’ Karen added.
