FREEMASONS in Devon have made a sizeable donation to the care home where one of its members, who has surpassed 60 years of service, now resides.

Having presented Gerald Slaughter with his certificate for his 60 years of service to the Lodge, it was decided by members to provide a donation of £5,000 to Cadogan Court, where Gerald and wife Daphine now live.

At Gerald’s request, the presentation was made to manager Clare Walker and Arthur Blamey, Chairman of the friends of Cadogan Court, by Keith Meager, former Charity Steward of Benevolent Lodge 303 and Rick Purnell, both close friends of the Slaughter family.

Originally from London, Gerald and Daphne moved to Shaldon in 2007.

The couple moved into Cadogan Court earlier in the year following ill health.
