VISITORS to Newton Abbot’s historic Clock Tower have been given the chance to see what it would be like to be a monarch for a day.

Clock Tower Coronation Corner was the idea of Sally Henley, town development manager

‘Shoppers and residents have loved the opportunity to sign the book of congratulations and to take a seat on the throne in the ‘King’s Parlour’.

‘The Clock Tower has been open from Wednesday to Saturday and I am very grateful to museum volunteers who have manned the tower so enthusiastically,’ said Sally.

‘As a reminder, the Tower is open on Wednesdays throughout the summer and on selected Saturdays and it is well worth a visit!

‘The Coronation Bank Holiday drew attention to the amazing work which volunteers do and we have some fabulous ones here in Newton Abbot.

‘There is always room for more and so I would welcome hearing from anyone who might like to help.’
