THE organisers behind Newton Abbot’s inaugural archeology fair say they are looking to make it an annual event after Saturday’s success.
Organised by Raph Allnatt of Teignbridge Archaeological Society and hosted at Newton Abbot Museum, the event, which took place on May 9, featured stalls, demonstrations, metal detecting finds and talks.
Raph said: ‘We were very pleased with how the day went.
‘The talks were well attended and each speaker did a fantastic job.
‘We got to hear about some of the most exciting archaeological discoveries being made in our area, from the Stone Age inhabitants of Dartmoor to the Romans in Teignbridge.
‘The stalls and demonstrations were also a success, with plenty of visitors throughout the day, and it was great to see so many young people with a keen interest in their past.
‘Newton Abbot Museum was a fantastic venue and all the feedback was very positive.
‘We will be looking to make this Archaeology Fair an annual event’.
Teignbridge Archaeological Society runs talks, practical sessions, field visits and social events throughout the year.
