THE Yellow Warning of icy weather in Devon has been extended into the weekend.
An alert had already been extended until lunch time today, but the Met Office has issued a further Yellow Warning covering all of Devon from 4pm today, Thursday, until Noon on Saturday.
Temperatures dropped to minus five in Newton Abbot by 6am this morning and are expected to dip to minus two again tonight and just below freezing overnight again on Saturday and Sunday, according to the Met Office.
A Met Office spokesperson warns: ‘Disruption is likely due to icy surfaces.
‘Frequent wintry showers are likely to fall onto frozen surfaces in places, leading to the formation of icy patches. These showers are expected to fall as snow on high ground, with the potential for several centimetres to accumulate, especially over the high ground of north Wales.
