RESIDENTS in Devon are urged to secure high value vehicles as thefts continue across the area, with targeted addresses often left insecure.

Measures like trackers, CCTV, and secure car key storage are recommended by Devon & Cornwall Police.

The force says that, for several months now, there have been ongoing thefts of high-value vehicles.

People are targeting addresses where high performance vehicles are kept, with thefts occurring across the force area, Devon & Cornwall Police say.

Three cars were recently stolen from an address in Heathfield; a man in his 20s from Exeter was arrested and enquiries are ongoing.

The vehicles – a blue Honda Civic, a grey Porsche Macan and a white BMW 4 Series - were, thankfully, recovered in Torquay and Teignmouth respectively.

A spokesperson for Devon & Cornwall Police said: ‘Please ensure that all windows and doors are locked when away from the address and especially at night time when such thefts tend to occur.

‘Consider other crime prevention measures such as CCTV/Ring doorbell devices and hide any valuables away.

‘Security lighting can also be a good deterrent.

‘It is recommended hiding car keys away and keeping them in a signal blocking pouch are also good security measure rather other than typically leaving them for example on a hook by the front door.

‘Although on occasions persons have been arrested and charged the problem remains ongoing.

‘Please remain vigilant and report anything suspicious’.
