RESIDENTS in Heathfield are warning other households to be on their guard after thieves broke in overnight.

Three cars were stolen from the drive of the house sometime between midnight and 2am this morning.

The homeowner described the incident as ‘very scary’.

They said the thieves broke into the house to get hold of the sets of car keys while they were sleeping.

They said: ‘We have since recovered the cars thanks to well-placed air tags and a lot of driving around Teignmouth and Torquay as soon as we discovered the theft this morning.

‘It’s the type of thing that you think will never happen to you but it has and it’s happening nightly around our area.

‘Stay vigilant and safe.’

It has been reported that there is a ‘gang’ targeting cars and homes.
