AS Booster vaccinations went on apace, Teignbridge recorded 195 new cases on January 7.

According to the latest Government figures, 195 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported yesterday (Friday).

Between January 1 and 7, 1,486 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 26.9% compared to the previous seven days.

Vaccinations in Teignbridge:

111,537 people had been given a first dose by the end of January 6.

105,008 people had been given a second dose by the end of January 6.

87,380 people had been given a booster or third dose by the end of January 6.

Healthcare in Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust:

Two people with coronavirus went into hospital on January 2.

Between December 27 and January 2, 37 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 236.4% compared to the previous seven days.

There were 28 patients in hospital with coronavirus on January 4.

There was one coronavirus patient in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on January 4.

Fortunately no deaths were reported in Teignbidge within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on January 7.
