WITH 130 new people testing positive for Covid in Teignmouth yesterday (Wednesday), the district has seen a 5.4 per cent weekly rise in cases.

Between December 16 and 22, 723 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 5.4% compared to the previous seven days, according to the latest Government figures.

One person with coronavirus went into hospital on December 12 according to the latest figures.

Between December 6 and 12, 26 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 13 per cent compared to the previous seven days.

There were 26 patients in hospital with coronavirus on December 15.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 3 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 14 December 2021.

Deaths in Teignbridge

There was one death within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on December 22. Between December 16 and 22 there have been three deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows no change compared to the previous seven days.
