HEARTBROKEN friends of an ‘adored’ Newton Abbot man have started raising funds for his funeral.

A GoFundMe page has been set up today, Monday, to help pay for the funeral costs for Mike Ray. It has already raised more than £1,800.

On their GoFundMe page they say: ‘We are writing the official donation page with the heaviest of hearts for our beloved friend Mike, donations will go towards funeral costs, a memorial and a trust fund or costs associated with bringing up his son Manson.

‘You can donate with a message for his family or remain anonymous.

‘Mike was an adored brother, son and nephew.

‘He was amazing friend to so many and an incredible father.’

Police were called to Bakers Park in Newton Abbot on Sunday morning and they sadly reported that they had recovered a body.

The death is not being treated as suspicious, said a police spokesperson.

Next of kin have been informed and a file is to be prepared for the coroner.
