A LOCAL fire station took the short trip to the Langstone Cliff Hotel for their latest drill night.

Dawlish’s firefighters had ‘great fun in the evening sunshine’ practising throw lines, tethered wading, long beach rescue and words of command at the hotel’s pool.

The crew managed to rescue a blow up doll, inflatable ducks and a mannequin baby, all the while providing entertainment for the guests having a drink on the lawn.

A spokesperson for Dawlish Fire Station said: ‘Thank you to Zoe and the Langstone for hosting.

‘We are still recruiting, if you can provide any daytime cover in and around the Dawlish area to be an on call firefighter, then please get in touch.

‘We are at Sainsbury's tomorrow [Saturday, May 31] between 10am and 2pm if you would like to come and have a chat, otherwise, come to the Station on a Wednesday evening from 7pm’.
