AN accidental fire burnt down a caravan near Abbotskerswell.

Crew from Newton Abbot Fire Station were mobilised to reports of fire near the village on Monday evening (March 9).

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters discovered one caravan and a variety of miscellaneous items to be ‘well alight’, with the fire starting to spread to a nearby van.

Two firefighters, with a hose reel jet each, were tasked to tackle the fire.

The Incident Commander (IC) requested a second fire engine for more water.

The remaining crew members used drag forks and a thermal imaging camera to turn over the smouldering debris and cool any hot spots.
