FIRE has destroyed a building and vehicles in Exminster.

The blaze broke out yesterday afternoon at the property in Days Pottles Lane. 

A caravan was destroyed by the fire and a car was severely damaged by heat and smoke. 

Fire crews were alerted to the scene just after 4pm. 

Residents reported seeing smoke from some distance away. 

Four fire crews attended the incident where the building was described as being well alight. 

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘The building was well alight on our arrival and the fire involved a caravan, car and a large outbuilding. 

‘Crews are using water and foam jets to extinguish the fire.

‘The building was used for storage and was 50 per cent damaged by fire. 

‘A caravan was destroyed by fire and a car was severely damaged by heat and smoke. Accidental cause.’
