AFTER a successful exhibition of printmaking which saw a good number of sales, the Paradiso Gallery in Bovey Tracey has just opened its latest exhibition this week, which is described as a ‘much more edgy’type of art and an ‘eclectic and visually stimulating display of modern artworks’.
Titled New Visions, the exhibition includes some two dozen examples of Pop Art, political art and street art by local artists, and as part of the show, one of the artists will be doing a live demonstration in the Fore Street gallery.
Steve McCracken is a well known Exeter-based artist. His ephemeral work can be seen across the city, and on Saturday, November 20 he’ll be in the gallery from 7pm-9pm, to produce one of his amazing pieces of street art.
A spokesman said: ‘This event is free, but all donations will be greatly received!’ Also on show are works by three Plymouth College of Art lecturers and some of their students, an indication of the growing links being forged between the gallery and the college. The spokesman said: ‘We see it as important to support art students.’
Among the other exhibits is an award-winning work by artist Pricklysauce. Described as a very strong piece of art it is sure to be thought-provoking.
This is a very different type of exhibition for the gallery, and it runs until December 11. Gallery opening times are Wednesday to Saturday, 10.30am-3.30pm, and to coincide with the Bovey Tracey Christmas market event on December 4, the gallery will be open that day until 6pm.
