On Saturday Villages in Action will be hosting a day of live performance at Newton Abbot Library – with storytelling, music and puppetry for children and their families.

The day begins at 11.30am with The Buskers of Bremen by Isabella’s Story Bicycle. Recommended for children ages four to nine, the performance follows the tales of Isabella and her incredible bicycling adventures in the wilds of the world.

At 12.30pm there will be an interactive show, Flying with Strings – featuring string puppetry and live music from Devon-based puppeteer Sarah Vigars and musician Louis Bingham. This show is suitable for ages three plus.

The final event of the day, The Curiouser Man, will start at 2pm and is recommended for children aged 8 and over. Performed by James Richardson, the Curiouser Man is a cheeky, colourful character bearing curious oddments from who knows exactly where – each with their own outlandish story.

Organised by Devon-based arts charity Villages in Action, this event is part of the From Devon With Love festival, an annual scratch performance festival which supports some of the region’s best talent to test new work in front of a live audience.

Scratch is a process of developing creative work that involves the audience from the onset, with artists sharing in-development work with an audience.
