EASTER has arrived early in Dawlish with the first Black Swan cygnet to hatch.

The new arrival appeared this morning to parents Rosie and Bluey.

The fluffy newborn is a welcome sign for the Dawlish Black Swan population after losing previous eggs and nests during winter storms.

Even this egg survived being submerged in flood water only a few weeks ago.

A spokesman for Dawlish Waterfowl Wardens said it was a ‘very special Easter arrival on the Brook’.

They said: ‘Our first cygnet has hatched for Rosie and Bluey, and this little one is only a few hours old.

‘Tiny, fluffy, and already tucked safely under mum’s wing… what a moment to witness.

‘It feels perfectly timed with Easter just around the corner, a real reminder of new life and fresh beginnings here in Dawlish.

‘We’ll be keeping a close eye on the nest over the coming days, there may be more to come.’
