THE sun shone all day on the ancient but ever-popular King’s Teignton Ram Roasting Fair.
The centrepiece of the day saw 20 dancers tie things up around the maypole, although every activity under the sun was at the fair to make sure no one was at a loose end. money raised was fed stright back into the community.
Event secretary Sue Shaw said: ‘It was a great day. The weather was perfect and it was a bumper turnout, so good that the beer tent ran out of beer!
‘The guys running the hoopla stall did a sterling job and the Newton Bushel Morris Dancers were great. Newton Abbot Fire and Rescue came out but had to leave halfway through for a job callout!
‘The May Queen and Coronation Queen were so excited for the day and did so well. For me, it’s a privilege to be a part of their memories.’
Treasurer Keith Shaw added: ‘We’re looking at who can help us and eventually take on the show.
‘It’s a minor commitment, but very rewarding. Please get in touch if you’re interested.’
